Game 98 - vs. Jedi Knights
(35-34)
Overtime is O time. It took the Os an extra 3 minutes to get a well deserved win on Tuesday night. They managed a 1 point victory over the Jedi Knights. The Os got off to a slow start, trailing 12-9 at halftime. Although the Os did not have the lead, there were promising signs. They had a superb rebounding performance (among the best since the Giant's run-in with the LAPD). On one first half possession, the Os managed at least five offensive rebounds (although they did not manage to score on any of them).
At the beginning of the second half, the Os fell behind by 8 points before it became Os' time. With Steve-O powering the Os inside and Roster Guard leading the way on the outside, the Os took the lead toward the end of regulation before allowing the Jedi Knights to tie the game up on free throws. During the overtime period the Os came out strong and determined, scoring early and holding on for the victory. Two early shots by Buckets gave the Os an overtime lead they would not relinquish (although they came close).
There were almost too many great performances to mention. Duggo played a solid game despite undergoing a root canal shortly before tipoff. Big D was seen mixing it up in the inside, contributing to several Os rebounds. Buckets fought through a tough night of shooting to put in the two key baskets in Overtime. Mr. Smooth and E-Bomb each contributed 8 rebounds to the O cause. Roster Guard had 16 of the Os' 35 points and chipped in with 4 rebounds (meriting him 2 Ophy votes, a tie with Kimberly, the best eater of the night). However, the Ophy went to Steve-O (who didn't even vote for himself) with a career high 14 rebounds and 8 points and general domination of the paint.
