Game 97 - vs. No 1 Else
(29-37)
Looking for their second straight win over No 1 Else, the Os managed to stay close, but could not hit the key shots, losing 37-29. It was a close game from wire to wire. The Os held several leads early on in the game, but trailed by 4 at halftime, 18-14.
In the second half, No 1 Else's deep bench (they fielded a 10 man team) helped them contain the Os' rally. Solid efforts by Roster Guard and Steve-O helped to keep the Os close, but they were not quite able to take the win. As time was winding down, Roster Guard and Buckets had several key steals and hit big free throws to cut the lead, but the key 3-pointers and outside shots weren't falling for the rest of the team.
Roster Guard had a typically solid game with 15 points and a trio of tres (3 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists). Steve-O played a remarkable game in the middle, giving the Os an inside offensive presence with 6 points, 8 rebounds, and a career high 7 free throw attempts. However, Buckets took home the Ophy for his "Clutch 1 & 1 free throws." In the words of another voter, "Steve-O played a great game... But he's not even here to vote for himself, so I say Buckets for his clutch free throws down the stretch."
