Game 95 - vs. The Phenoms
(39-76)
Coming off yet another victory the previous week, the Os had high expectations for their game against the Phenoms. Their recent run of success had them winning 50% of their previous 8 games. However, the Os were not ready for the fast breaking of the Phenoms.
The Os got off to a slow start in the game, while the Phenoms managed to get out to some easy scores on fast breaks and hit several open outside shots. Before the Os had gotten into a rhythm, they were already down by double digits. Despite the deficit, they fought on in true Os style. Turning a big deficit into a learning experience, they were able to work on their offense and ended up scoring the fourth most points they had scored in 2006, a solid performance.
Several Os had memorable performances. Roster Guard had an O record 6 assists to go with his 7 points. E-Bomb and Steve-O were critical in the middle with 6 points each and 9 and 5 rebounds respectively. However, the Ophy voting came down to a battle between Buckets and Lil' Joe. Buckets put together 6 points and 3 rebounds (both career highs) to garner 3 Ophy votes. He was also complemented for his "hot 3-on-1 action," in which he single handedly scored 2 of his baskets against 3 Phenoms defenders. Despite his efforts, Lil' Joe walked away with the Ophy because "he had to win it sooner or later." Along with that reasoning were his 7 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
